Use Your Phone’s Camera to Input Excel Spreadsheet Data

-

In addition to taking and editing selfies, your phone’s camera can do much more. Using powerful image recognition technology, it can detect anything from QR codes to photographs on Pinterest.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use your phone camera to enter data into Excel.

How to Input Data Into Excel Using Your Phone Camera

More work may be accomplished with your phone’s camera as an easy data input method for Excel spreadsheets. Here are the steps.

  1. Open the Excel mobile app on your phone and tap on the + sign in the top-right corner of your screen.
  2. Click on the Blank workbook or select from other interesting Excel templates on display.
  3. Tap to select the particular cell where you want to import the data into.
  4. Tap on the Menu button (an A with a pen) to the left of the search button.
  5. Scroll down and tap on Home, then on Insert.
  6. From the menu options, tap on Data from Picture.
  7. Grant Excel permission to take pictures and record videos.
  8. The data you want to import can be captured by holding your camera over a printed table or set of data. Always make sure there’s adequate lighting, focus on data’s edge selection, and check that your image is vertical for optimal outcomes. You have complete control over image cropping.
  9. Tap Continue if satisfied with your capture, otherwise, tap Retake.
  10. Tap Open at the bottom of your screen to open the result in Excel.
  11. Click Open Anyway if there’s nothing to correct, and the table or data will be inserted into your spreadsheet.
  12. Tap on the Review All button if there are any mistakes, such as misspellings, and then press Done. If there is nothing further to correct, simply tap Ignore.
  13. For each cell in your Excel spreadsheet, you can then proceed to edit the information as normal.
  14. Make sure you print off the data or table before importing it. With or without grid patterns, the content must be shown in rows and columns.
