Counter-Strike 2 vs Valorant: Which Game Has Better Features?

Features Counter-Strike 2 Borrowed from Valorant

Counter-Strike 2 is the latest installment in the legendary FPS franchise that has been dominating the gaming scene for over two decades. The game is a major overhaul of CS:GO, featuring a new game engine, improved graphics, new gameplay elements, and more. But how does it compare to Valorant, the popular tactical shooter from Riot Games that has been inspired by Counter-Strike itself? In this article, we will look at some of the features that both games have in common and see which one does it better.

1. Crosshair Follows Gun Recoil

One of the most noticeable features that Counter-Strike 2 has borrowed from Valorant is the option to make the crosshair follow the gun’s recoil pattern. This means that you can see where your shots are going and adjust your aim accordingly. This feature can be turned on or off in the settings, depending on your preference.

Valorant has a similar feature, but only in ADS mode (aim down sight). When you zoom in with a gun, the crosshair will move along with the recoil. However, this feature is not available for all guns, and some players may find it distracting or confusing.

We think that Counter-Strike 2 has an edge over Valorant in this aspect, as it gives more flexibility and control to the players. You can choose whether to use this feature or not, and you can use it with any gun in any mode.

2. Preview Grenade Landing Position

Another feature that Counter-Strike 2 has taken from Valorant is the ability to preview where your grenades will land before throwing them. This can be very useful for planning your strategies and executing your utility throws more accurately. However, this feature is only available in practice mode, so you can’t use it in actual matches.

Valorant has a similar feature for some of its agents, such as Brimstone and Omen. They can mark spots on the map where they want to place their smokes or teleports, and then activate them with a click. This makes it easier to coordinate with your team and execute your abilities more efficiently.

We think that Valorant has an advantage over Counter-Strike 2 in this aspect, as it allows you to use this feature in real matches and with more types of abilities. However, some players may argue that this feature makes Valorant too easy or casual compared to Counter-Strike 2, which requires more skill and practice.

3. New Sub-Tick System

One of the most impressive features that Counter-Strike 2 has introduced is the new sub-tick system, which is supposed to improve the netcode and reduce latency issues. The sub-tick system allows the game to track the exact movements and actions of the players more precisely, making things like peeking, jumping, and shooting more responsive and consistent.

Valorant has a similar system called predictive recoil, which also aims to reduce latency and improve hit registration. However, some players have complained that this system causes desyncs and inconsistencies between what they see on their screen and what actually happens in the game.

We think that Counter-Strike 2 has a slight edge over Valorant in this aspect, as it seems to have a more advanced and reliable netcode system. However, both games still have room for improvement and optimization in this area.

4. New Game Modes

Both Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant have added new game modes to spice up their gameplay and offer more variety to their players. Counter-Strike 2 has introduced two new modes: Retake and Danger Zone. Retake is a fast-paced mode where one team tries to defuse a bomb planted by the other team, while Danger Zone is a battle royale mode where up to 18 players fight for survival on a shrinking map.

Valorant has also introduced two new modes: Spike Rush and Escalation. Spike Rush is a quick mode where each round lasts only two minutes and everyone has the same weapon and abilities. Escalation is a chaotic mode where each kill grants you a different weapon or ability until you reach the final level.

We think that both games have done a good job of adding new game modes that cater to different tastes and preferences. However, we also think that both games could benefit from adding more game modes or customizing their existing modes with more features and options.

5. New Maps and Map Updates

Both Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant have also added new maps and updated some of their existing maps to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. Counter-Strike 2 has introduced two new maps: Dust 3 and Mirage 2. Dust 3 is a remake of the classic Dust map, featuring a desert-themed setting with new routes and angles. Mirage 2 is a revamped version of the popular Mirage map, featuring improved lighting, textures, and details.

Valorant has also introduced two new maps: Breeze and Fracture. Breeze is a tropical island map with large open spaces and long sightlines. Fracture is a unique map with a split layout, where attackers spawn on both sides and defenders spawn in the middle.

We think that both games have done a great job of adding new maps and updating their old ones, as they offer more variety and challenge to the players. However, we also think that both games could benefit from adding more maps or rotating their map pools more frequently to avoid repetition and boredom.

6. New Weapons and Weapon Updates

Both Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant have also added new weapons and updated some of their existing weapons to balance the gameplay and offer more options to the players. Counter-Strike 2 has introduced two new weapons: MP5-SD and R8 Revolver. MP5-SD is a silenced submachine gun that offers high mobility and low recoil. R8 Revolver is a powerful handgun that can fire two modes: single-shot or fan-fire.

Valorant has also introduced two new weapons: Marshall and Sheriff. Marshall is a sniper rifle that offers high damage and accuracy at long range. Sheriff is a revolver that can deal headshot damage through armor at close range.

We think that both games have done a good job of adding new weapons and updating their old ones, as they offer more diversity and strategy to the players. However, we also think that both games could benefit from adding more weapons or tweaking their weapon stats more often to avoid stagnation and meta dominance.

7. New Skins and Cosmetics

Both Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant have also added new skins and cosmetics to customize the appearance of their weapons and characters. Counter-Strike 2 has introduced two new skin collections: Operation Phoenix and Operation Hydra. Operation Phoenix features skins inspired by mythical creatures such as dragons, phoenixes, and hydras. Operation Hydra features skins inspired by futuristic technology such as lasers, holograms, and robots.

Valorant has also introduced two new skin collections: Glitchpop 2.0 and Forsaken. Glitchpop 2.0 features skins inspired by cyberpunk aesthetics such as neon lights, glitches, and hackers. Forsaken features skins inspired by dark fantasy themes such as curses, corruption, and redemption.

We think that both games have done a good job of adding new skins and cosmetics, as they offer more personalization and fun to the players. However, we also think that both games could benefit from adding more skins or cosmetics or lowering their prices to make them more accessible and affordable for everyone.

Conclusion

Counter-Strike 2 vs Valorant is a tough comparison to make, as both games have their own strengths and weaknesses. Both games offer a thrilling tactical shooter experience with different gameplay elements, features, modes, maps, weapons, skins, and more. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and taste. Some players may prefer the realistic and hardcore style of Counter-Strike 2, while others may prefer the colorful and creative style of Valorant.

If you are still undecided about which game to play, we suggest you try them both out for yourself and see which one suits you better. You can download Counter-Strike 2 for free from Steam when it launches in summer 2023. You can also download Valorant for free from Riot Games’ website right now.

Whichever game you choose to play, we hope you have a blast! Happy shooting!
