How to find your IP address

    -

If youโ€™re searching for how to find your IP address, you probably have a reason. Maybe someone asked you for it, and now you feel like a fool because your response was โ€œUmโ€ฆ What?โ€ To make matters worse, the person asking for it isnโ€™t being very helpful. They may tell you what it is in more technical terms that are equally confusing.

Check Out: Reasons You See 192 in IP addresses

Donโ€™t worry! Finding your IP address is really easy. It should take only a couple of minutes to accomplish. Once you know how to do it once, finding it again will be a breeze.

How to find your IP address on Windows 11

    • Type cmd in the search bar, right-click Command Prompt, and choose Run as administrator.
    • Type ipconfig /all (press Enter) to see all of your network settings, including your IP address and default gateway information.

    Or

    1. Take a look at the Settings menu in your Start menu (by either clicking on the icon or by pressing the Start key on your keyboard). If you can’t find it in the Start menu, open it by typing “settings” and it will appear.
    2. Click Network & Internet on the left-hand side menu.
    3. Select Advanced network settings from the drop-down menu.
    4. Choose from the following options: hardware and connection properties.
    5. There, you should see your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

You can Equally Lookup Your IP address Here.ย

How to find your IP address on Windows 10

The easiest way to get your IP address is to type “ipconfig” into the Windows Search bar. Or, you can use Cortana. This will bring up a list of results that match what you entered. Right click on the result labeled “Ethernet adapter Ethernet.” Select “Properties” and then look at the IPv4 & IPv6 addresses listed under there.

If these steps aren’t working for some reason, try restarting your computer and trying again until it works!

    Or

    1. On your Start screen, right-click on the Start button and choose Settings from the popup menu. Start the computer and choose Settings from the Start menu (it should look like a gear) or just type Settings into the search box and select that option from the list that comes up.
    2. Select theย Network & Internetย menu.
    3. Select the View hardware and connection properties link about halfway down the page and then click.
    4. You should be able to see both your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses on this page.

    If youโ€™re using Windows 7 or 8:

    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type cmd and press Enter on your keyboard or click OK if prompted for UAC permissions.
    • If you donโ€™t see an IP Address listed under “Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection” then try running: ipconfig /all

How to find your IP address on MacOS

To find your IP address on a Mac, open a Terminal window and type “ifconfig”. Look for “inet addr” and copy the long IP address that appears.

    Or

    1. System Properties can be accessed by selecting the Apple menu from the upper-left corner of your desktop.
    2. Go to the Network menu.
    3. If your IP address is near the top of the menu, you should be able to find it there.

Conclusion: How to find your IP address

Finding your IP address is a very straightforward process, and it only involves a few steps. To get started, youโ€™ll need to open up a Command Prompt window. You can do this by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard, then typing CMD in the run command box that appears.

Next, enter the following command: ipconfig /all (do not include quotes).

You should see something like this: โ€œIPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.5โ€ณ (without quotes). The first number listed here is your computerโ€™s IP addressโ€”you can use this number if you want to connect to another computer on your network or over the Internet

Thatโ€™s all there is to it! You can also use these instructions to find out the IP address of a printer or other device you want to connect with, if your computer isnโ€™t able to automatically detect it. If you run into any issues or have any questions about this process, donโ€™t hesitate to reach out!
