Z-Library Returns to the Open Web with Secret Personal Domains

-

Z-Library, a popular e-book pirate site that was forced onto the dark web after facing charges of criminal copyright infringement, wire fraud, and money laundering, has made a comeback on the public-access internet. The news has been met with enthusiasm by the website’s users, particularly college students who relied on the site for free textbooks.

In a blog post viewed by 21,000 users, Z-Library announced that it had set up a universal login page and secret personal domains for its users. The login page allows users to access close to 12 million free e-books without having to use encrypted networks like Tor. Upon logging in, users are redirected to their personal domain, which they are asked to keep secret.

The return of Z-Library to the open web is a significant development for the site’s users, who had been unsure if the site would be able to continue operating after the legal action against its alleged operators. The move to personal domains allows users to access the site’s vast collection of e-books with greater ease and security.

While Z-Library’s return may be celebrated by its users, it is important to remember that the site’s activities remain illegal and infringe on the copyright of authors and publishers. The use of pirate sites like Z-Library undermines the integrity of the publishing industry and deprives creators of their rightful compensation.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, it is essential for lawmakers and industry leaders to work together to protect intellectual property and promote ethical and legal means of accessing digital content. While Z-Library’s return to the open web may be a short-term victory for its users, it ultimately represents a step backward in the fight for fair compensation and recognition for creators.
