TECNO Set to Unveil Its Exciting Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept Phone

    -

TECNO, a popular smartphone brand, is getting ready to show off a new and innovative phone called the Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept. This phone is not like the usual smartphones we see every day. It’s a special kind of device that can fold three times, and it’s creating a lot of buzz in the tech world. The company plans to officially introduce this phone in mid-July 2025, and thanks to some leaked images, we already have a good idea of what it looks like. Here’s everything you need to know about this futuristic phone in simple terms.

What Makes the Phantom Ultimate G Fold Special?

The Phantom Ultimate G Fold is a tri-fold phone, which means it has a screen that can fold twice to create three sections. Unlike regular phones or even foldable phones that fold once (like a book), this one folds in a unique way to form a “G” shape. When it’s fully folded, the main screen is tucked safely inside, protecting it from scratches or damage. This is different from some other foldable phones, like the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, where part of the screen stays exposed when folded.

TECNO says this phone will be the thinnest tri-fold phone ever made, even thinner than the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, which is only 3.6mm thick when unfolded. That’s super slim for a phone with three folding parts! The company also promises that when you open the phone fully, the screen will be completely flat with no visible creases or folds. This is a big deal because many foldable phones have noticeable lines where the screen bends, which can be distracting.

    How Does It Look?

Thanks to some early pictures shared by a well-known tech leaker called Ice Universe on X, we can see what the Phantom Ultimate G Fold looks like. The phone has a sleek and modern design. When folded, it looks like a regular smartphone with a cover screen on the left side, which you can use for quick tasks like checking messages or making calls. There’s also a triple camera setup on the back, arranged horizontally, which is different from TECNO’s earlier tri-fold concept, the Phantom Ultimate 2, which had a vertical camera design.

The phone’s folding mechanism uses two special hinges that allow it to fold inward twice. This “G-shaped” design makes it compact when closed and protects the delicate main screen. When unfolded, it transforms into a large, tablet-like display, perfect for watching videos, playing games, or working on multiple apps at once.

    What’s the Technology Behind It?

TECNO has worked hard to make this phone stand out. To achieve a flat, crease-free screen, they used advanced flexible screen layers and tiny dual-hinge components. These technologies allow the phone to fold smoothly while keeping the screen strong and clear. The design also feels practical, almost like a regular phone when folded, which makes it easier to carry around.

However, there’s one thing to keep in mind: the Phantom Ultimate G Fold is still a concept phone. This means it’s not ready to be sold in stores yet. TECNO is using this device to show off what they’re capable of and to test new ideas. It’s like a sneak peek into the future of smartphones.

Why Is TECNO Doing This Now?

TECNO’s timing is interesting. They’re revealing this concept phone just before a big event by Samsung, called Galaxy Unpacked, where Samsung is expected to show their own tri-fold phone, possibly called the Galaxy G Fold, along with other devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. By sharing this concept now, TECNO is grabbing attention and showing that they can compete with big brands like Samsung and Huawei in the foldable phone race.

Last year, TECNO did something similar. They revealed their first tri-fold concept, the Phantom Ultimate 2, just before Huawei launched its Mate XT Ultimate. That concept was shown off at a big tech event called MWC 2025 in March. This time, the Phantom Ultimate G Fold seems to be an improved version with a more practical design.

    What’s Next?

TECNO hasn’t shared details about the phone’s specs yet, like the processor, battery size, or software features. We also don’t know how the phone’s big screen will work with apps or if it will have special features for multitasking. Hopefully, when TECNO officially unveils the phone in mid-July, they’ll show a working version and share more details.

For now, this is just a concept, so don’t expect to buy it anytime soon. Unlike Huawei, which is already selling a tri-fold phone in some countries, TECNO’s device is still in the experimental stage. However, it’s exciting to see a brand like TECNO pushing the boundaries of what phones can do.

    Why Should You Care?

The Phantom Ultimate G Fold Concept is a glimpse into the future of smartphones. It shows how phones might become even more versatile, acting like both a phone and a tablet. For students, this could mean a device that’s great for studying, watching lessons, or even drawing. For parents and other users, it offers a compact phone that can expand into a bigger screen for entertainment or work.

Even though it’s not available to buy yet, it’s worth keeping an eye on TECNO. They’re proving they can create cutting-edge designs that rival bigger brands, and who knows? Maybe one day, a phone like this will be in your pocket.
