A 5,000 mAh battery and Snapdragon 680-powered Oppo A76 smartphone have been unveiled for the public

The A76 was announced so subtly that it almost went unnoticed. However, it is now official and sales have begun in Malaysia. Oppo.com (Malaysia) sells this phone for MYR 900 ($215/€190) and it comes in Glowing Black or Glowing Blue colors. What are you getting in return for your money?

There are some older CPU cores (Kryo 265) and an older GPU (Adreno 610) in the 680 chipset, which is a 6 nm improvement of the Snapdragon 662/665. No 5G modem, just a Cat. 13 LTE modem on board (390 Mbps down, 150 Mbps up). A leak suggests that a 5G model is on the way, however this isn’t the case.

The processor is combined with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. An additional 5 GB of RAM can be added to ColorOS 11.1 (based on Android 11). Dual-SIM phone only accepts SIM cards; there is no storage expansion option.

The 6.56″ display has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90 Hz refresh rate, which makes it intriguing. The 8 MP front-facing camera is visible through a hole in the display’s upper left corner.

The phone has a dual camera configuration on the back, but don’t be deceived by the huge rings surrounding the lenses; the primary module has 13 MP and the depth sensor has 2 MP. The chipset’s maximum resolution is 1080p, so we’d expect it to be able to record video at that resolution.

The A76’s battery is unquestionably its best feature. Despite its size, it can charge at a rapid 33W, making it one of the fastest devices on the market.

Compare the Oppo A76 with the A74 first before making a purchase. While the price is the same for the 6.43″ AMOLED display with 1080p+ resolution (60 Hz) and a 48MP main camera, it has a 16MP ultra wide camera. With the same 5,000 mAh battery and 33W charging, it’s still powered by the Snapdragon 662 chipset from the previous generation (11 nm).

The Oppo A36 is essentially identical to the A36, but it’s not available in the same markets (Malaysia, for example) as the A36, which is.
