A vertical scrolling Story option is being tested on Instagram

In Turkey and Brazil, Instagram is experimenting with a vertical scroll for Stories. Touch control will now be on par with Reels and TikTok’s rival.

Since then, Instagram has been working on vertically scrolling Stories. Stories have always been able to be scrolled horizontally.

A vertical scroll will allow you to switch between stories from different users, while a horizontal swipe will allow you to switch between stories from the same user’s account.

You don’t know when or if the new Stories scrolling technique will be available to you, or even if it will be available at all. It’s possible that Instagram is only running A/B tests at this stage and will ultimately decide not to implement the functionality at all.
