A Red Velvet colorway of the Oppo Reno7 New Year Edition has been unveiled
The Oppo Reno7 New Year Edition, which was revealed earlier this month, is a special variant of the regular Reno7. Since 2022 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac, it sports a Tiger logo on the back next to the Oppo nameplate.
The Oppo Reno7 New Year Edition, except from a red paint job and the Tiger emblem on the back, is just the normal Reno7, with the Snapdragon 778 SoC, 6.43″ FullHD+ 90Hz AMOLED screen, and Android 11-based ColorOS 12.
There are four cameras on the phone: a 32MP selfie camera in the punch hole, a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera on the rectangular island on the back.
Powered by a 4,500 mAh battery, the Oppo Reno7 New Year Edition has 60W fast charging and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
There isn’t a price difference between the Oppo Reno7 New Year Edition and the standard model, so the new color isn’t a deal breaker. It costs CNY2,699 ($425/€375) for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while an additional CNY300 ($45/€40) would get you a variant with 256GB of storage. To get the 256GB/12GB version, you’ll have to pay CNY3,299 ($520/€455).
On December 27, Oppo’s official website will begin accepting pre-orders for the Reno7 New Year Edition, however, it is unlikely to be released in international regions. But we may still see the Reno7 in red color without the Tiger branding when Oppo launches the rest of its lineup outside China in the future.
